Patriot Month

We are still in the midst of June, a month I like to call Patriot Month.

I coined this term for June because this is the month during which patriotism builds in the United States as we prepare for Independence Day. Throughout the month of June, I observe countless US flags flown in front of homes, around businesses, and along city streets, which were brought out for this patriotic season.

Another reason for calling June Patriot Month is the fact that Memorial Day occurs just before June, Flag Day lands in the middle of June, and Independence Day takes place immediately after June; this essentially makes June a patriotism sandwich, and you may know by now that I am made of patriotism and sandwiches.

Memorial Day, the holiday when we commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives while defending our nation and our freedoms, Flag Day, the day during which the first official US flag was adopted, and Independence Day, the day when we declared our independence and became an official nation, all transpire in little more than a month, which is a lot of patriotism for a relatively small portion of the year.

That is what makes this is my favorite time of the year; summer, bonfires, hotdogs and hamburgers, patriotism, and fireworks, can it get any better?

Happy Patriot Month! What is your favorite month?
