The Coffee Soda

When you think about a refreshing soda in the summer, you are likely to imagine a fruity beverage, or maybe even a cola, but did a coffee soda cross your mind? It most likely did not, unless you happened to read the telltale title.

My Discovery of Carbonated Coffee

When my mom first shared a sample of the experimental precursor to this beverage with me, I was skeptical; it seemed absurd! My first taste proved that it was not disgusting like I anticipated, and after a couple more tastes I realized it was unlike any other carbonated beverage I had tried: not too sweet, yet not too bitter, characteristic of a well balanced coffee. It is somewhere between a coffee and a soft drink; it could be described as an effervescent coffee.

I decided to have handcrafted sodas for my graduation to provide a unique experience and a more personalized soda. My menu featured our original coffee soda; everyone who inquired about it was surprised by the discovery of the unusual flavor, but I received only compliments from those who tried it. I would later become aware of the fact that this idea was not new, though I served this beverage before any major company came out with carbonated coffees; I had never heard of the idea before that time.

For each guest that ordered a beverage at my celebration, I handmade their soda and served them, therefore I like to say that I was a jerk at my graduation, a soda jerk.

This handcrafted soda is certainly unique; if you enjoy coffee and you have either coffee syrup or a recipe for it, I would strongly recommend that you try this beverage.

Have you ever tried a carbonated coffee?
