All right, Alaska and New Jersey have a lot of differences, like with any two states when compared. Sure, it is generally more interesting to discuss the several things that they have in common, rather than their infinite differences, but in this instance they are extremities.
New Jersey is the most densely populated state, and Alaska is the least. This should be no surprise if you examine their population and land size. New Jersey is one of the most populated states, but it possesses some of the least land; Alaska is one of the least populated states, but it is the largest state by land size.
New Jersey has an astounding 1,265 people per square mile, which is about the same density as Jacksonville, Florida, but across an entire state! On the other hand, Alaska has a single person per square mile on average; that is equivalent to the population density of the Falkland Islands!
The United States has an average population density of about 87 people per square mile, meaning Missouri has the closest average density to that of the entire US.
