Have you ever made a peanut butter sandwich just to reach into the refrigerator and discover that there is no jelly left? Well, with what are you supposed to top your delicious peanut butter sandwich now?

I know this does not only happen to me, because HuffPost has written a post with suggestions for peanut butter sandwiches without jelly, although, I must say it appears that they did not try their own suggestions, for they clearly overlayed an image of a sandwich with other images digitally; the peanut butter is spread exactly the same in each photo, in fact, they credited Getty Images as the source of their images. If they actually tried their own sandwiches, they should have shown us the assembled sandwiches.
While considering these sandwich ideas, I couldn’t help noticing that I have already, with my own originality, made and eaten a third of these so-called, unconventional sandwiches; does this make me unconventional?
Despite HuffPost’s not presenting the physical sandwiches to us, I shall not leave you empty handed! I have tasted and rated each sandwich as a semi-picky programmer that is too busy to spend an unreasonable amount of time assembling a mere sandwich; now you don’t have to waste your irreplaceable time taste-testing, although, if you are not a picky eater, then you just might like each sandwich anyway, but you are still welcome to join me on this flavorful adventure!
I have judged each sandwich by three factors: the tastiness, the Lazy Man Index (LMI) that is the ease of assembly with a higher number being easier, and the likelihood that I will make it again. Yes, LMI is now a new and scientific unit of measure.
Goat Cheese

Tastiness: 4/10
Lazy Man Index: 6/10
Repeat Likelihood: 5/10
I tried the goat cheese as savory with some salt and pepper as garnish, but I didn’t care for the taste, I thought it was better without the seasonings. I also tried it as a sweet sandwich with berries, which I liked better; I had never tried goat cheese before, and I would describe it as being similar to cream cheese, but just a little cheesier.
Honey

Tastiness: 10/10
Lazy Man Index: 9/10
Repeat Likelihood: 10/10
This is a very quick and easy sandwich; simple in ingredients yet, so delicious and complex in flavor, though visually bland. If you use a good quality honey, then your sandwich can have a great variety of subtle flavors, unlike any monotonous, refined sugars. The main drawback is that this sandwich can be quite sticky at times, especially if it drips out of the sandwich.
Bananas

Tastiness: 8/10
Lazy Man Index: 9/10
Repeat Likelihood: 8/10
This fun looking sandwich was as delicious as it appeared, and it only takes a moment to cut a banana into slices and slap them onto the sandwich. I have always liked the taste of peanut butter with bananas, and I was just as satisfied with this sandwich. It is a bit strange that I never thought put these two ingredients together onto bread.
Granola

Tastiness: 9.5/10
Lazy Man Index: 10/10
Repeat Likelihood: 10/10
This is technically a fairly boring sandwich in appearance, and I overlooked it, only anticipating that it would be mid-ranged in flavor, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was far tastier than my expectations! The crunchy texture is amazing in the sandwich and the flavor is delightful with peanut butter!
Avocado

Tastiness: 2/10
Lazy Man Index: 8/10
Repeat Likelihood: 1/10
This one did not look unappealing, but I simply did not like the flavor combination. You may thoroughly enjoy this sandwich if you love avocados, and if you live in California, it may be easy to acquire the avocados for this sandwich, for you would live in the largest, avocado producing state; maybe this will be the newest Californian trend for peanut butter sandwiches.
Nutella

Tastiness: 8/10
Lazy Man Index: 9/10
Repeat Likelihood: 9/10
A Nutella and peanut butter sandwich may not be the most amazing looking of sandwiches, but these two ingredients always compliment each other well. The flavors blend perfectly and it’s easy to make. The flavor combination resembles a Peanut Butter Cup.
Pomegranate Seeds

Tastiness: 10/10
Lazy Man Index: 10/10
Repeat Likelihood: 9/10
I, surprisingly, love the texture! The fruity and nutty crunches compliment the smooth and fluffy textures of the bread and peanut butter. The flavor was less prominent than I expected, so I about doubled the pomegranate seeds later and enjoyed the flavor more. The nutty flavor of the seeds match the nuttiness of the peanut butter and the fruity flavor works as well as jelly does. It is quite pleasing to the eye and it is as simple to prepare as sprinkling on pomegranate seeds, that is, if you purchase the seeds that are already separated.
Butter

Tastiness: 7/10
Lazy Man Index: 8/10
Repeat Likelihood: 3/10
The butter adds a smoother texture and greatly reduces the sticking to the roof of your mouth of peanut butter, as well as adding a little more flavor. This sandwich is a little better than just peanut butter, but it is lackluster. Even as a diehard man convicted by family of lazy sandwich making, this sandwich is too uninteresting for my tastes.
